lions and tigers and ... no bears until 2010

Warning: LOTS of pictures :o)

Before I get into my great weekend, wanted to show you a picture of my nice farmer tan / sunburn I got last weekend. Ouchie!

My BFF Amanda and her family came down Friday night... had they not gotten lost (trust me, it's a joke within their family so I feel safe saying that) they would have gotten here at a decent hour Friday night. It worked out good though, I took a nap until they arrived. It really didn't help them that it was pouring down rain.

We got up Saturday and tried to go to the Waffle House - people were standing outside though. We headed to IHOP instead and then headed for the Zoo. We hit a few drops of rain on the way there and when we first got there. We had a good time – the zoo is mostly shaded so with it being almost 90, that helped tons! The only thing that sucked is my knee – damn thing kept me from seeing the last little bit. I took a rest while they toured the rest.

Entering the Zoo

The lil girl waving wanted her picture taken too!!

Sleepy guy! And at this point, my camera died so I didn't get any more Zoo pics OR pics from the T-Rex ... UGH!

After the Zoo we headed over to the Legends and ate at T-Rex. Sadly, not the best food I’ve had – but Samantha had fun so it was worth every minute and penny.

We came back to my place afterwards and just chilled. This morning we sat around for a bit then headed for lunch, went and looked at the lake, then stopped at a little park over by my house for a few minutes. We decided we were going to go swimming, but by the time we got home and the time they wanted to leave, we decided we wouldn’t have much time and wouldn’t be worth our money.

Right before we asked Sam if she wanted to go swimming....

We decided to go for some miniature golf instead. For somebody who has only played 2x, I got 2nd place!!

This one could be a 'lil challenging. the hole is around the corner!

BFF!!

A great time with some great friends, I can’t wait for their next visit!!

Tomorrow being the last day of the month, I know I will be exhausted, M is on vaca until July 8- AYE... this could be disastrous.

The Clark family - I LOVE ya'll!!

craziness

Month end - seriously it wears me out every month. Laid back, no real worries 15 out of our typical 20 working days is the environment of most of the reps on my team and then its rush, rush the last 5 ... BITCHES!

Nothing really exciting going on the last week so I haven't posted anything... I got a little too much sun this past weekend and now its starting to peel and itch. I also went to the river market this past Saturday, it was a great time. I got off on the wrong exit, but I found my way to the market without having to use my GPS - I was impressed with myself!

I've got one of my BFF's and her family coming down this weekend, my Momma coming down over the 4th and then my other BFF coming down the following weekend! I'm sure I'll have pics to post over the next few weekends. Until then, have a great rest of the week and great upcoming weekend!

Happy belated Fathers Day!

My dad with M at Christmas.

I'm a day late and feel bad :( Other than getting my oil changed in the car and to the store for a few groceries, I didn't do anything this weekend - EXCEPT watch the online news back "home". I was glued to the internet all afternoon Saturday and all day Sunday watching about the flooding.

Sadly I don't have a picture of me and my Dad - he hates his picture being taken! Sorry for being late Pa -I hope your day was as good as it could be considering the circumstaces. I love you, miss you and can't wait to see you again!

prayers needed!

First and foremost, Please Please Please pray for my friends and family who live in Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas of Iowa. Living there for 8 years and seeing these pictures gives me goosebumps, leaves me speechless and has made me cry on numerous occasions. It is so freaking unbelievable - again beyond this I am speechless. Asking again, please pray for everybody in Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas- it will take a lot of time to recover from this BUT it WILL be done! If you don't have a chance, look at this picture - this is a DQ I ate at on a few occasions when I was living in Cedar...

This picture is the Five Seasons Tree that sits on what used to be Mays Island... I can't believe how close the water is to the bottom of the "leaves"

So thanks to all of the flooding, I had to cancel my vacation for next week. I had planned on spending part of my time seeing my folks and family in SE Iowa and the rest up in Cedar Rapids - but since I can't get from one side of Cedar to the other, and most likely my friends house basement is flooded (which is where I was going to be staying) - I decided it was probably better to "delay" my time off. I'm upset, but I will get back there. What sucks more is I haven't seen some of my friends and family in now over 6 months.

This past week a friend and I ate lunch on the patio of a bar and grill and then came back to the same bar and grill a few hours later and were outside for maximum 30 minutes.... in that short time I got sun burn, my nose getting it the worst. I discovered last night it's blistering - EEEK!

I got my hair cut today... it's finally the style I wanted, except it's not styled. I am just not okay with paying somebody $25 or so to style my hair who doesn't really know me and know what I like. I'll get some pictures up once I actually style it!

I owe this little explaination to Melissa - I should have posted this in my last post but didn't really think about it until I read the comments. One of my family members didn't pass, it's a long story, a story that gives me goosebumps, a story that boils my blood and one that would probably set me into a crying rampage.

Wow... I feel like I wrote a dang book - I'm praying for you Iowa folks! Have a great weekend everyone!

my heart hurts

To start this on a good note - I'm sitting outside at 9:07 pm, with my ipod tuned in, the laptop going and its about 60 degrees out! Perfect... too bad the whole day couldn't have been this good.

Lord, I'm praying with all that I can. I'm down on my knees while my heart is breaking in a million pieces. I think the only time it has ever hurt this bad is when I lost my Grandmother - and I guess you could compare this.

It will probably be awhile before you see me post again as today, I've lost a family member... hence the title of my blog.

firsts

So it's Saturday night and if you've been keeping up with me, you know that today was ROCKFEST 2008! It pretty much kicked ass....the only thing that I would have to change next year is going to both stages. We spent all afternoon / evening at the main stage, don't get me wrong, it still kicked ass.

I experienced a lot of firsts today:

  1. Rockfest - definitely will do it again
  2. Spending time in downtown KC (lived here 2 years and only been downtown to spend more than a few minutes twice (jury duty and now Rockfest)
  3. High off drugs / being around drugs. And before you read further or into this - HELL no it wasn't me smoking it. The smell of it almost made me puke and then I felt like crap for the next 20 minutes or so. At one point, one of the girls had 2 jointes in her mouth and was smoking them for approx 30-45 seconds. I'm sure she felt pretty good.
  4. Watching a kid climb to the very top of a tree. He wasn't really a kid, but he was younger than me, so he's a kid. The entire crowd was in awe...
  5. Being around 50K+ people! That's right, FIFTY-THOUSAND+ people. There were 50K tickets, so you figure all the people who bought tickets, the people selling food, beer, tshirts, etc.
  6. Seeing that many sets of boobs in one day.
Something that always seems to happen when I'm outside for a period of time when it's hot outside... I get dehydrated. Very annoying as I feel like crap - even though I've been drinking fluids.

I only got 2 pics, and they were with a disposable camera (since I'd never been I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't want to ruin / lose my camera). Needless to say I won't be posting any pics.

Finally, as Bryan and Melinda were dropping me off at my car, I thought I'd lost my keys. I almost started crying as the only thing I had was my car key faab, no house keys. Thankfully Bryan found my keys!

is the weekend here yet?

Where has the week gone? It feels like it has drug on, but for some reason I can't remember what I've done... I do remember Tuesday night was one of the scariest drives home I've ever had. It was storming really bad here, I almost crashed the car on the interstate at one point from hydroplaning...then as I got closer home a bolt of lighting flashed right in front of my car. Right as I was pulling onto my street it started hailing - God and Grandma were watching over me for sure! Here are a few pics of the hail outside of my house.

One night this week it was nice enough to shut the air off and open the windows up...I ended up going outside to sit on the patio. This poor guy looked lost...

A funny looking tree in my backyard

There is a little airport about 2 miles from my house, I'm guessing these guys were taking lessons or just messing around as they flew over 3 or 4 times. I wanted to see how good the zoom on camera would work - not too bad!!

Saturday is Rockfest 2008, the start of the summer, the biggest party of the year as 98.9 would say. Gates open at 11, bands start at 12 with the last one starting at 9:30. It's supposed to be about 90 on Saturday, you can count on this girl gettin FRIED! Not sure I'll be in any shape to post over the weekend (what can I say when all drinks are $5 or less?) but I'll definitely post after the weekend if not!
